Towers contain two interfaces (one on each platform). As each tower contains data on a certain part of Lyoko the interfaces can be used to research the tower, in the first season, Aelita used the codes on these interfaces to research the real world. After she was materialised, she stopped using these codes although she has found use in using the interfaces to activate certain other programs.
