Maya is the name that Jeremie decided to call Aelita after he first made contact with her in XANA Awakens because she could not remember her real name. Because Jeremie and Aelita originally assumed that she was a computer program, Jeremie addressed her as "Artificial Intelligence" at first, but she asked him to call her something else. They settled on Maya until she remembered her real name when she deactivated her first tower.
